The Republic of Ghana is a peaceful West African country bordered by Côte d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast) to the west, Burkina Faso to the north, Togo to the east, and the Gulf of Guinea to the south. The word "Ghana" means "Warrior King, and was the source of the name "Guinea" (via French Guinoye) that is used to refer to the West African coast.

About Global Mamas

Global Mamas is a cooperative of 26 small businesses owned and operated by women in Ghana. It directly benefits over 150 people, including employees and apprentices, who together design and produce unique, high-quality, handmade apparel and accessories such as handbags and beaded ornaments.

Global Mamas believes that helping African women gain economic independence will reduce dependence on foreign aid and steadily create a more prosperous society.

About the Handcrafted Products

The photographs of these products fall miles short of capturing their simple beauty. The beaded ornaments (which are good luck charms that can be hung and shown off just about anywhere), are individually handcrafted, so each one is unique. The bags are equally lovely.
